Tonight: United vs Brentford at Old Trafford
It's a home game tonight. United face Brentford at Old Trafford, with Chris Kavanagh in charge as referee (1) (2). Three points are there for the taking. No excuses on home soil.
Transfer window: the names to know
The window is getting busy fast. United are willing to spend €60m on Orkun Kökçü, Besiktas's Turkish international midfielder, to bolster their midfield rotation (3). They're also tracking Brighton's Ferdi Kadıoğlu, another €60m target, who has been one of the Premier League's best players this season (4).
There's more. United held exploratory talks with Sporting CP's Maxi Araujo, a 26-year-old left-back who shone in the Champions League this season (6). And a Premier League midfielder has been priced at £84m, with Carrick's camp already warned the deal will be tough to get done (7).
On the outgoing side, United want to keep Amad Diallo — that's a firm stance from the club (8).
Academy: Shea Lacey loan decision raises eyebrows
INEOS are considering loaning out academy talent Shea Lacey, despite reports suggesting he's ready for first-team football. Carrick reportedly rates him. A queue of clubs is already forming if United make him available (5). Fans won't love the idea of sending him out when he could be contributing here.
