Fall signs for Panathinaikos after Obradović intervention

Fall crossed the divide

Moustapha Fall is gone, and not just gone, he signed for Panathinaikos. The former Olympiacos center agreed a €3.4m contract with the arch-rivals on Wednesday (1) (2). Fall did not hide what swung it: "Zeljko Obradović played a big role. I know he is a great coach. I wanted to be on a competitive team" (2). For Olympiacos fans, this one stings.

He was heading elsewhere until Obradović called

Fall had been telling Olympiacos teammates he was likely bound for Villeurbanne or PAOK. Then Obradović got on the phone and everything flipped. The Serbian coach convinced him Panathinaikos was the move (1). Your front office never saw the real threat coming.

Stanic pursuit and who is leaving

Away from the basketball shock, Olympiacos reporter Kostas Nikolakopoulos discussed the latest transfer moves, including the Petar Stanić chase and which players could be on their way out (3). More concrete names expected soon.

Fan reactions

The Fall move has hit the Olympiacos fanbase hard. Losing a starting center to Panathinaikos, especially after he had signalled other destinations, has supporters questioning how this was allowed to happen. The Obradović factor is being cited everywhere as the difference-maker. Join the discussion on Reddit
