Maffeo: Today is the key day
Monday is the decisive day for Olympiacos to finalise the signing of Mallorca right-back Pablo Maffeo (3). The 28-year-old has been lined up as the direct replacement for Kostinia following his move to Brighton. The deal is reportedly worth around three million euros. José Luis Mendilibar has been driving this one. He wants Maffeo's intensity on that flank and the club appears close to delivering.
Biancone heading to Lens
Giulian Biancone is set to become one of the first summer departures from Piraeus. The defender is close to joining RC Lens, with the Ligue 1 side moving quickly to secure him (5). It is a move that clears space and funds as Mendilibar reshapes the squad to his liking.
What else is cooking
Maffeo is not the only name on Mendilibar's list. The club remains active in midfield, with talks ongoing for Unai López, a player Mendilibar knows well from Spain (3). An attacking winger with speed is also on the agenda – Adrián Liso has been evaluated – and a Greek left-back is being explored. Meanwhile, 19-year-old prospect Christos Mouzakitis is attracting serious interest from Spanish clubs, a subplot worth watching as the window unfolds.
