Olympiacos leave Taremi and Yaremchuk out of European squad

Taremi and Yaremchuk left out of European squad

Mehdi Taremi and Roman Yaremchuk are not in Olympiacos' European list for the Champions League qualifier against NEC Nijmegen (1). Their futures are uncertain and that is now official. Stefan Ortega, Clayton, Luiz, and Yazici are also omitted.

The squad does include Fortounis, El Kaabi, Retsos, Rodinei, and new signing Gustavo Sá (1). Mendilibar has what he needs for this tie. The absentees tell their own story.

NEC without Tahaui and Ogawa

NEC Nijmegen named their 22-man selection for the two-legged tie. Koki Ogawa and Adam Tahaui are both out (2) (3). Dusan Tadic and Emre Mor are in the squad and will travel (2) (3). The first leg is coming fast, and NEC are missing genuine quality in attack.

Fan reactions

The reaction to Taremi's omission is sharp. Most fans see it as confirmation he is on his way out and the frustration is not about the list itself, it is that the saga has dragged on this long. A few are already looking ahead to Sá as the creative spark the midfield needs. Join the discussion on Reddit
