PAOK outbid for Giannoulis as Lucescu decision looms

PAOK lowball Giannoulis as Olympiacos close in

PAOK have tabled a €2.5m offer for Augsburg left-back Dimitris Giannoulis, but it's nowhere near enough. Olympiacos have agreed a deal with the German club at €4.5m and Coventry are also in the race (1). PAOK's bid is barely above half of what Olympiacos are paying. The new sporting structure under Léo Matos and Vieirinha promised a fresh approach, but getting beaten to a domestic target by Olympiacos, with a substantially lower offer, is not the start fans hoped for.

Lucescu situation coming to a head

Reporter Thodoros Hasts says developments regarding Răzvan Lucescu's position at PAOK are expected imminently, with the topic set to be discussed on Athletiko and Action24 (3). No details yet on whether this points to an extension, a restructuring, or something else, but after a season that fell short of second place and with the front office already reshaped, the coach's future is the next domino.

Fan reactions

Skepticism is running high among PAOK supporters. One Reddit user called the timing of the Vieirinha and Matos appointments suspicious, arguing the club could have installed them earlier to move faster on transfers and now risks using the late front-office reshuffle as an excuse for a slow window. Read the full discussion here. There's also some chatter about the new shirt, but that's a side note compared to the frustration over the slow transfer market.
