Santos return off as PAOK's rebuild continues

Santos return hits a wall

The idea of Fernando Santos coming back to PAOK in a strategic advisor role already looks dead. Reports earlier this week suggested Ivan Savvidis was considering bringing the veteran coach into the club's new structure (1). But a second report now claims the contact never got off the ground (5). No deal, no ongoing talks. For fans hoping the 2010 title-winning manager would return to steady the ship, this one fizzled fast.

Matos: 'We have a lot of work to do'

Léo Matos isn't hiding from the scale of the job. Speaking to Athletiko on Saturday, the new sporting director was blunt: 'We have a lot of work at PAOK, we will make it' (2). It's the kind of message fans want to hear from a figure who knows the club inside out. He and Vieirinha are already showing up together, both were spotted at Toumba for Greece U19's 4–2 win over Kazakhstan in EURO 2027 qualifying (4). Matos isn't just talking. He's in the building.

Giannoulis linked after Olympiacos move collapses

Dimitris Giannoulis could be an option at left-back. A potential move to Olympiacos has reportedly fallen through, and Sportime's front page puts PAOK in the frame (3). The Augsburg defender is a known quantity in Greece and would fill a position your squad needs depth in. Nothing confirmed yet, but it's a name worth watching as the window slowly stirs.
