Bosz warns PSV what ADO away feels like

Bosz knows what ADO away feels like

Peter Bosz has been here before, and he is not pretending it is routine. Ahead of PSV's trip to ADO Den Haag on Saturday, the coach was asked about his memories of the club and did not soften it: "Dat was altijd heftig" (5).

He means it as a compliment. ADO away is one of those grounds where the noise arrives before the football does. Bosz has felt it as an opponent and he is telling his players what to expect.

PSV go in second on 19 points from 8 games, +16 on goal difference, with a form line of D W L W L. The last league outing was a 2–0 win over Heerenveen on October 9. The one before that in Europe, at RB Leipzig on October 13, ended 1–0 the wrong way.

Geertruida is the signing Bosz wanted

Bosz did not hide his feelings about Lutsharel Geertruida. Asked at the pre-match press conference about the defender's qualities, the coach called him "voor ons belangrijke en fijne versterking" (4).

Translation: an important and pleasant addition for us. Bosz is rarely that warm about a new face in a press room.

Two departures, two directions

Sam Lammers came in over the summer and Bosz has now voiced his disappointment about him (3). The coach did not dress it up.

At the same time PSV have tied down Shuryjano Cornecion. The 18-year-old has signed a five-year deal, running to 2031 (2). He made his official first-team debut last weekend, and the club moved quickly to renegotiate rather than wait.

The one to watch: PSV's attack is already thinned by injuries, and a winter exit could make it worse (8).

Braude on the radar

Heerenveen right-back Oliver Braude, 22, is drawing attention from PSV, Ajax and Feyenoord (1). Heerenveen can extend him until 2028, so this is a watching brief, not a done deal.

Porto get Bednarek back

Bad timing for PSV. Porto's Polish centre-back Bednarek returns to the squad for the Champions League meeting on October 20 (6). The Portuguese press noted Porto's record without him has been poor, and that this season they have lost every game he missed.

Den Haag comes first, on Saturday at 16:30 CEST. Then Porto away. Then Feyenoord at home on October 25.

Round nine already moving

Heerenveen 4–0 Excelsior on Friday, the first result of the round (7). PSV play their part on Saturday at ADO Den Haag.

Fan reactions

The mood around Cornecion's new deal is warm. Supporters are pointing out that the club moved to renegotiate and extend him to 2031 almost immediately after his official debut last weekend, and that a five-year tie for an 18-year-old midfielder reads as a statement about the pathway rather than a formality. The thread on r/soccer is where the conversation is happening.
