Hincapié sent off and Ecuador exit World Cup

Piero Hincapié was sent off as Ecuador fell 2–0 to Mexico in the World Cup round of 32 at the Azteca, a defeat that ended your team's campaign and made them the only CONMEBOL side eliminated that early (1). The Arsenal defender apologised after the match: "It was because of the heat of the game. I forgot that I couldn't cover my mouth! I apologise, but you can be sure I'll always give everything for the national team" (1). Hincapié was one of two players caught by FIFA's new 'Ley Prestianni' rule during the tournament.
