Ghana crash out as Kane breaks curse in 3–0 England defeat
Ghana's World Cup adventure ended with a 3–0 defeat to England in the group stage on 23 June (1). Harry Kane found the net after Peruvian shamans reportedly lifted a Ghanaian witch doctor's curse that had kept him scoreless, while Jude Bellingham also got on the scoresheet. It was a harsh conclusion after your team had frustrated England in a goalless draw earlier in the tournament and opened with a 1–0 win over Panama. The loss meant Ghana fell short of the knockout rounds despite one of the most disciplined defensive campaigns Carlos Queiroz has overseen, Benjamin Asare, who trained in a swimming pool before the tournament, had kept a clean sheet against these same attackers just days earlier.
