Ghana out of World Cup after Puerta goal downs Black Stars

Ghana's World Cup run ended in the round of 32 with a 1–0 defeat to Colombia in Kansas City (1). Gustavo Puerta scored the only goal, sending the South American group winners through and leaving Carlos Queiroz's side to head home. Ghana had reached the knockout stage as one of the best third-place finishers after a gritty group campaign that included a 0–0 draw with England and a narrow loss to Croatia. Queiroz's team proved hard to break down all tournament, but Colombia found a way.
