Haaland double sinks Iraq in World Cup opener
Erling Haaland scored twice as Norway beat Iraq in their World Cup Group I clash. The Manchester City forward struck after the break to break Iraqi resistance, then added a second from close range. Afterwards, Haaland told reporters: "I am not the world's best striker" (1). For Iraq, the result is a bruising reality check after the emotional high of ending a 40-year World Cup absence, but Graham Arnold's squad knew the group stage would test every fibre, and Norway were always going to be a severe opening examination.
