Romano Schmid scored one and pressed nonstop in Austria's 3–1 win over Jordan on Tuesday (1) (4). Leeds United want him this summer (1). ORF News described him as "a tireless presence on the right wing, constantly pressing the Jordanian defence" (1). The 26-year-old plays for Werder Bremen and just put his name in lights on the biggest stage.

Austria 3–1 Jordan in the Group J opener at Levi's Stadium (2) (3). Schmid put Austria ahead early, and Ali Olwan equalized five minutes into the second half to make it 1–1 (4) (6). Marko Arnautovic then took over, a goal in the 77th minute and a penalty deep into stoppage time, 12 minutes added, sealed it (2) (3). Jordan stayed in the fight until Arnautovic's second broke it open.
