Schmid shines as Leeds circle, Jordan fall to Austria

Schmid runs the show, Leeds are watching

Romano Schmid scored one and pressed nonstop in Austria's 3–1 win over Jordan on Tuesday (1) (4). Leeds United want him this summer (1). ORF News described him as "a tireless presence on the right wing, constantly pressing the Jordanian defence" (1). The 26-year-old plays for Werder Bremen and just put his name in lights on the biggest stage.

Jordan fell 3–1, but Olwan gave you a moment

Austria 3–1 Jordan in the Group J opener at Levi's Stadium (2) (3). Schmid put Austria ahead early, and Ali Olwan equalized five minutes into the second half to make it 1–1 (4) (6). Marko Arnautovic then took over, a goal in the 77th minute and a penalty deep into stoppage time, 12 minutes added, sealed it (2) (3). Jordan stayed in the fight until Arnautovic's second broke it open.

Argentina up next

Your team faces Argentina in the second group match. That is the reality after Austria. Group J does not get easier. Jordan are World Cup debutants and everyone knew the group would be brutal, the Austria match confirmed you can compete, but the margins are thin.
