Mexico City alcohol curbs after 700,000 celebrate World Cup qualification
Mexico are through to the World Cup knockout rounds, and the celebration in the capital was enormous, an estimated 700,000 people filled the streets Friday night after qualification was secured (1). Now Mexico City authorities, led by César Cravioto, are pushing to rein in alcohol consumption for the matches ahead. "We will keep insisting that fans have fun, but without excessive alcohol consumption," Cravioto said (1). The party delivered the result; the city wants the next one to stay under control.
