Morocco out of the World Cup as Ouahbi fumes over uncalled handball
France 2–0 Morocco, and a handball that wasn't called
Your World Cup is over. France beat Morocco 2–0 in the quarterfinal on Thursday, and coach Mohamed Ouahbi is furious about what happened before the opening goal (1) (2). He insists Adrien Rabiot handled the ball in the buildup to Kylian Mbappé's goal, and the officials missed it (1). That moment changed everything.
Ouahbi: 'France have never had so many talents'
After the loss, Ouahbi praised France's depth. "La France n'a jamais eu autant de talents… et des talents qui courent," he said, genuinely impressed by the quality Didier Deschamps can call on (5). No bitterness in that one, just acknowledgment.
Bounou saved a Mbappé penalty
One bright spot in the defeat. Yassine Bounou denied Kylian Mbappé from the spot, and the French press laid into Mbappé's run-up afterwards (10). Daniel Riolo called it "nul", rubbish (10). Bounou got a moment to take home.
Panel says Morocco sat too deep
Belgian analyst Peter Vandenbempt summed it up: "It takes two to tango, but this time there was only one" (8). Morocco played an ultra-low block and never really threatened. The panel called it too cautious, and the French dominance in the second half confirmed that (4) (7).
