Depay at a crossroads as Italy join Guardiola chase
Depay's future up in the air after contract and World Cup reset
Memphis Depay is at a crossroads. His Corinthians contract is running out and his World Cup with Oranje ended in the round of 16, a tournament he will want to forget (1). No decision yet on his next club, and his international future is just as unclear. Henk ten Cate has already told him to come back to the Eredivisie and restart his career on home soil.
Driessen blames Koeman and the KNVB for World Cup disaster
Valentijn Driessen did not hold back. He called the Netherlands' World Cup an "onacceptabele wanprestatie", an unacceptable failure, and pointed straight at Ronald Koeman and the KNVB (2). The round of 16 exit to Morocco still stings, and Driessen's column captures the mood: someone has to answer for this.
Italy enter the Guardiola race
Italy want Pep Guardiola too. La Gazzetta dello Sport report that the World Cup holders have Guardiola at the top of their shortlist, alongside Antonio Conte and Roberto Mancini (3) (4). Oranje have been linked with Guardiola since the Morocco exit, but the Italian federation is moving, and they have a vacant seat right now.
