Al Misehal resigns after World Cup exit

Yasser Al Misehal is out. The president of the Saudi Arabian Football Federation resigned following the team's elimination from the 2026 World Cup (1). Saudi Arabia lost 4–0 to Spain in the Group H opener and never recovered. Al Misehal had held the role since 2019, overseeing the federation through the 2022 and 2026 World Cup cycles.

The resignation comes with the team bottom of the group after one matchday, with Uruguay and debutants Cape Verde also ahead.

Al-Ahli table a massive bid for Hadj Moussa

Al-Ahli want Anis Hadj Moussa to replace Riyad Mahrez, and they are not messing around. The club has submitted what Dutch outlets are calling a very high bid, "zeer hoog bod", for the Feyenoord winger (2) (3). Feyenoord now have a decision to make.

Hadj Moussa, an Algerian international, has been one of the Eredivisie's breakout attackers. Mahrez, 35, remains at Al-Ahli but the club is clearly planning for life after him. If the bid lands, this would be one of the Saudi Pro League's biggest moves of the window.
