Wissing appointed Al-Ittihad head coach after Conceição exit
Al-Ittihad have appointed Jens Wissing as their new head coach on a two-year contract, the club confirmed Saturday (1). The German takes over from Sérgio Conceição after a disappointing campaign that saw the Jeddah giants finish well off the pace in the Saudi Pro League. Sporting director Frank Capo said the club has "full confidence in his ability to lead the team during the next chapter" (1). Wissing arrives with experience coaching Machida Zelvia in Japan, as well as spells at Gamba Osaka and Al-Najma. His first task: closing the gap on an Al-Nassr side that just lifted the title, even as Jorge Jesus prepares to depart for the Portugal job.
