Broos remains South Africa coach after historic World Cup
Hugo Broos is staying on as South Africa head coach after the team's historic 2026 World Cup run (1). The 74-year-old Belgian, whose future had been uncertain following the round of 32 exit to Canada, has confirmed he will continue in the role. Bafana Bafana reached the knockout stage for the first time in the nation's history, and captain Ronwen Williams had publicly called for a statue to honour Broos, while defender Aubrey Modiba urged him to stay and finish the job at the Africa Cup of Nations.
