Jayden Adams, Bafana Bafana midfielder, found dead at 25

Jayden Adams, the Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder who represented South Africa at the 2026 World Cup, was found dead at his Cape Town home on 11 July. He was 25. Police have opened an investigation into his death, which came two weeks after Bafana Bafana were eliminated in the group stage. Adams started matches against Mexico and Czechia during the tournament. His father told RMC Sport that Adams called him the morning he died, saying "I can't take it anymore" (1). Adams had been suffering from severe depression following the death of his grandmother. The Football Players Union confirmed the news, and his partner posted a tribute on social media.
