Åslund eyes Sweden call-up after Potter training camp

Four Djurgården players train with Sweden

Patric Åslund got a taste of the national team, and he is not pretending it was casual. The Djurgården midfielder trained with Graham Potter's Sweden squad alongside teammates Mikael Marqués, Ahmed Saeed, and Abdirahim Abdulle, and he wants more (1).

"The national team is something you dream about, and it's not too big a dream," Åslund said (1). He has been a standout in the Allsvenskan this year and now has his eyes on the Nations League squad this autumn.

Midfield spots are open after the World Cup reset, and Åslund knows it. Elliot Stroud, Benjamin Nygren, Daniel Svensson, and Taha Ali have all been called up before, Åslund is pushing to be next (1).

Lamouchi sacked after Sweden's 5–1 win

Sabri Lamouchi lost his job the moment Sweden dismantled Tunisia 5–1 at the World Cup. The former Tunisia coach has now spoken about his dismissal, and the details are brutal, he was told to leave during the tournament itself, with no proper goodbye (2).

"They didn't say goodbye to me," Lamouchi said, describing how he was dismissed before Tunisia even left the competition (2). Sweden's group-stage demolition of Tunisia was the high point of a tournament that ended in the Round of 16, and it cost Lamouchi everything.
