Manzambi, Vargas and Sow injury doubts before Colombia

Manzambi, Vargas, Sow all doubts for Colombia

Three key players left training early on Monday. Johan Manzambi, Rubén Vargas, and Djibril Sow are injury doubts for Switzerland's World Cup last-16 match against Colombia, and Murat Yakin did not hide the concern: "It would be a huge loss for us" (1).

Michel Aebischer and Luca Jaquez are also carrying knocks. Silvan Widmer looks fit (1). That is five question marks on the eve of the biggest game of the tournament.

Vargas has two goals and an assist already in this World Cup. Yakin called his profile "unique." Losing him, plus Sow's engine in midfield and Manzambi's directness, changes everything.

Switzerland vs Colombia, Tuesday 22:00 CEST

The prize is a quarter-final spot. Switzerland won Group C with seven points and now face Colombia, who finished second in Group D (2) (3) (4).

No further team news beyond the injury doubts above. Yakin will have decisions to make right up until kick-off.
