Hervé Renard is gone. "Mon aventure prend fin," he said Saturday, my adventure ends (1) (3). Two matches, two defeats, and now Tunisia's World Cup manager has walked.
He took over during the tournament and could not stop the collapse. Three losses, zero points, bottom of Group F. The Netherlands defeat was the final straw, and Renard made it clear he wanted to be "free to choose the best project for the future" (3).
What comes next
Renard's exit leaves the Carthage Eagles without a manager. The Norwegian press confirmed the departure overnight (2). No successor has been named. Tunisia were the only African side eliminated in the group stage while nine others advanced, the rebuild has to start now.
