Khusanov collision leaves Verbruggen a doubt for World Cup opener

Uzbekistan fell 2–1 to the Netherlands in a World Cup warm-up friendly earlier this week, but the bigger story from the match is Dutch goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen's injury following a collision with Abdukodir Khusanov. Verbruggen did not take part in training after the match, and manager Ronald Koeman admitted uncertainty over his availability for the Netherlands' World Cup opener against Japan on Sunday. "It's only a bruise, so we don't know yet how things will be on Sunday. We are hopeful, but we'll have to see how far along he actually is," Koeman told reporters (1).
